ENVIRONMENTAL CONFLICTS AND THE ACTION OF THE ENVIRONMENTAL CONFLICT RESOLUTION CORE - NUCAM OF THE PUBLIC MINISTRY OF THE STATE OF MINAS GERAIS

: This research has as object the treatment of the environmental conflicts by the Public Prosecution Service as institution focused on the defense of the collective interests. In these cases of environmental conflicts, the objective of this paper is to identify the role of the Public Prosecution Service, its strategies, and the profile of its performance, as well as the self-compositional methods adopted, such as mediation, as an instrument for their resolution. Therefore, as a method of data collection, it was decided to review the primary sources such as archives, civil inquiries and administrative procedures, from the period 2012-2017, of the Public Prosecution Service, especially the NUCAM, Environmental Conflict Resolution Nucleus. These data allow us to deduce that, on the one hand, self-compositional methods may contribute to the resolution of some environmental conflicts. But, on the other hand, by itself, it is not capable of solving any and all cases, which demands the action of the Public Prosecution Service according to conventional methods of conflict resolution.
