Aging population and urban planning: a study on the spatial reorganization of the city of São José dos Campos, SP

The longevity of the population, while presenting itself as an achievement of humankind, has imposed important challenges. This research, included in the field of Urban Planning, questions whether cities are prepared to meet the needs of the elderly population in an inclusive way. Based on the rates of evolution of the aging rate and the urban regulatory frameworks of national and municipal scope, it proposes to discuss the real and the ideal city for elderly living, in the light of the contribution of the utopic and dystopic dimensions of our urban reality.
