Innovation and regional inequalities in contemporary Brazil: the locational decisions of innovative economic agents in the first decade of the 21st century

The article seeks to establish a relationship between the Brazilian innovative dynamics of the first decade of this century and the uneven geographical development. The central thesis is that the Brazilian innovative dynamic strengthened regional inequalities in Brazil from the spatial concentration of innovative production process in the state of São Paulo, thus contradicting the official discourses of an economic deconcentration of the country. It performs an analysis both from a theoretical matrix associated with the recent discussions around an Innovation Geography and on the analysis of a set of data that make up the research indicators.
