Strategies for Ethnodevelopment through Agriculture: An Analysis of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Actions in the Remnant Community of Quilombo de Monte Alegre, Cachoeiro de Itapemirim, Espírito Santo

The viability of agricultural production in Brazil has been facilitated by the performance of state agencies for technical assistance and extension. In particular, family and traditional production were encouraged through differentiated public policies. This paper is concerned with revealing the ethnodevelopment strategies of the remaining quilombo community of Monte Alegre, in Cachoeiro de Itapemirim - ES, based on the actions of the Institut Capixaba for Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (INCAPER) and the municipal and state agricultural agencies of Espirito Santo. It was investigated, how the development plans are built and how they strengthen ethnic identity.
