The general objective of this research is to analyze the forms of use and occupation of the territory on the shores of Ilha de Caratateua, considering the restriction of accessibility for the population, considering that it is a public space. A survey and reconnaissance of the study area was carried out with mapping from the year 1985 to the year 2020, in addition to a field visit to the study area. The diagnosis presented in this work shows that there are great challenges to be overcome. The complexity of the territorial occupation, indicates a series of evident propensities to a continuity in the irregular occupation of the edges of the island. There is a need to curb this type of occupation and think of a spatiality that considers the use of areas of common use by the population as a whole, whether local or tourists.
