Economic and Social Development in the Brazilian territory: the Metropolitan expansion and Sao Paulo Macrometropole

This paper aims to investigate the relationship of the historical development process in the Brazilian territory associated with development theories and models and the Sao Paulo Macrometropole. The metropolitan expansion in the Brazilian territory is the global capitalist hegemony that brings together a network of large enterprises, associated with economic development models, thus creating spaces of richness and poverty within same territory as verified from the analysis of the “DESENVOLVIMENTO HUMANO NAS REGIÕES METROPOLITANAS”, Human development in Metropolitan regions (DHRM, 2014). From 1970 and from the National Development Plan arise industrial politics deconcentrating and the Sao Paulo Macrometropole Plan. Observed in historical context that São Paulo state, São Paulo city was the capital best set in capitalism economic hegemony, due to productive territorial arrangement tends to reinforce the “modernização para poucos”, modernization for few .
