Vulnerable Territories and Environmental Injustice in Argentina

Environmental justice is a fruitful concept in that it modified the classical perspective of analysis on the problem of environmental degradation by establishing as the main question not so much the "causes" that produce such degradation but which interrogates the political, economic and social process that consolidates the unequal Social distribution of pollution loads. The southern suburbs of Buenos Aires and within this the Municipality of Quilmes condense different situations are environmental social vulnerability where conflicts are silenced, hidden or simply remain latent in the face of the emergency to maintain or create new sources of employment. The environmental issue was not constituted for years in a problem with public relevance although there were timid public policies that tended to regulate the effects of industrial pollution and its effects on the quality of life of the people.
