Rural Development of the State of Mato Grosso by Bioma: an analysis of the emptiness
This article analyzed the rural development of the municipalities of Mato Grosso by biome in the first decade of 2000. The analysis was made from the Rural Development Index (IDR). The analyses show that in Amazon/Pantanal and Cerrado biomes had majority low and very low IDR municipalities. The Cerrado had the highest degrees of rural development than Amazon/Panatanal, due to the greater presence of economic activities in the primary sector, however it showed negative environmental pressure. The public policies should be more intensive of preservationist agricultural practices on monoculture areas, and in improving income and quality of life where family farmers are concentrated.
