This article is a speculation about the use of data and the handling of information in public transport. With the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, we saw an increase in data in circulation that matter for different aspects of urban planning, which highlights the capacity of different actors, public and private, to produce information capable of resulting in productive and consequent use of information technologies. As a source and focus of the debate conducted here, considerations will be made about the construction of strategic concepts oriented to transport, taking the case of the Metropolitan Area of Brasília. Like other metropolitan regions that are frankly dependent on long-distance travel, the city is a privileged space for testing hypotheses of the relationships between development and the circulation of people.
