Critical balance and current perspectives of Edmundo Navarro de Andrade Forest after 43 years of tumbled landscape

Edmundo Navarro de Andrade State Forest - FEENA (Rio Claro Experimental Station) is considered as part of the Brazilian agriculture modernization process of the First Republic, due to development and implementation of a technical-scientific subtropical forest record. It has an incalculable scientific value, represented by decades of eucalyptus’ research. Express a significant heritage of São Paulo rural architecture and the rail road industry. In this study we evaluated FEENA’s conservation experience, whose landscape was pioneered tumbled by CONDEPHAAT, responsible to care about São Paulos cultural heritage. Bibliographic surveys about the architectural, environmental, cultural, historical, political and social aspects, as well as field studies to support information for the current characterization were carried out. Its pioneering role in the preservation of São Paulos landscapes was recognized, expressed by the its rarity, unique aesthetics and tourist interest. The Forest is an example of anthropic activities which defined territorial space and local social structure.
